Read the rental agreement We Found Adventure, LLC — Canoe Trailer Rental Agreement
Slick Rydr trailer configured for two canoes. Requires a 2-inch hitch ball and a 4-pin electrical connection. Optional accessories: one receiver hitch, up to two pairs of straps, and one 7-pin to 4-pin adapter. The owner sends the driveway pickup location separately by text or email.
1. Rental period and return
Both the first and last dates are charged. Friday through Sunday is three calendar days and $45 before applicable taxes. Dates use America/Chicago time.
Pickup and return are self-service. You may collect the trailer at any time on the first rental date and must return it before midnight ending the last rental date. Earlier pickup requires an approved change to your booking. Each booked calendar date is reserved exclusively for your rental; another renter cannot book that date.
Return the trailer and included equipment to the instructed location and secure it as directed. Complete the online return check-in and upload return photos. Contact the owner if the check-in fails; an upload failure alone does not establish late physical return.
An extension requires owner confirmation and available dates. Contact the owner immediately if you expect to return late. Each additional calendar day costs $15; payment does not authorize holding the trailer past the agreed return date.
2. Safe towing and permitted use
Only a properly licensed driver may tow the trailer. Before pickup, confirm that your vehicle, hitch, ball, electrical connector and towing capacity match the trailer's documented requirements. Do not exceed the lowest applicable vehicle, hitch or trailer rating. Follow the manufacturer's loading instructions and secure all boats and equipment.
Before driving, check the coupler and latch, safety chains, lights, tires, load and restraints. Stop and contact the owner if anything appears unsafe or incompatible. Do not tow a trailer that appears unsafe.
Use the trailer only for its intended canoe/kayak transport purpose. No passengers on the trailer, sub-rental, unauthorized modifications or unlawful use. Report incidents, damage, theft or breakdown promptly. Contact emergency services when appropriate. Obtain owner authorization before arranging non-emergency repairs.
3. Condition and records
At pickup, photograph the trailer, its equipment and any existing damage, and report concerns before departure. The owner will retain a condition record. Missing photos do not by themselves prove renter-caused damage. Normal wear is not damage charged to the renter.
4. Saved card and damage
The rental price is charged when booked. At checkout, you separately authorize Square to save your payment card for this rental and authorize We Found Adventure, LLC to charge documented amounts owed under this agreement for renter-responsible damage, missing equipment or agreed late-return charges. Full card numbers and security codes are not stored on our website.
Before any additional charge, the owner will review the claim and send you an itemized notice explaining the amount and supporting condition records or reasonable repair/replacement evidence. Contact the owner promptly if you disagree. No additional charge is made automatically merely because a rental ends, a photo is missing or a card is saved. Normal wear and pre-existing damage are excluded.
The saved card is disabled for future charges after a clean return inspection or cancellation. If an issue remains unresolved, it is disabled no later than 30 days after the scheduled rental end; any remaining claim is handled separately by invoice or other lawful means. Saving a card does not reserve funds and is not insurance or a damage waiver.
You are responsible for documented loss of or damage to the trailer and included accessories to the extent caused by your negligence, misuse, failure to secure the equipment, or breach of this agreement. If the trailer is destroyed or damaged beyond economical repair as a result, you are responsible for the reasonable, documented cost of replacing it with a comparable trailer of similar type, capacity and pre-loss condition, plus reasonable necessary delivery and registration costs. Credit will be given for salvage value and any insurance or other recovery compensating the owner for the same loss. Normal wear, pre-existing damage and loss caused by the owner's fault are excluded. No duplicate recovery or upgrade at the renter's expense is permitted.
The owner will provide an itemized claim and supporting documentation. Card authorization is limited to amounts owed under this agreement; it is not permission for unrelated or unsupported charges. Disputed or unpaid claims may be handled separately by invoice or other lawful remedies.
5. Cancellation and owner unavailability
Cancel at least 24 hours before the rental period begins for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the rental period begins incur a $15 cancellation fee (one calendar day’s rent); the remaining rental payment is refunded if the trailer has not been collected. The saved card is disabled for this rental. Any applicable tax adjustment is reflected in the refund.
The rental period begins at 12:00 a.m. at the start of the first booked date in America/Chicago time, regardless of the intended pickup time. The exact free-cancellation deadline is displayed before checkout and in the confirmation. For a Friday rental start during a week without a clock change, the deadline is Thursday at 12:00 a.m. Cancellation is effective when received through the booking cancellation page or the listed rental support contact. A cancellation does not end responsibility for a trailer already collected; arrange its return with the owner.
If the owner cannot supply a safe, usable trailer for the reservation, cancel and refund the rental payment in full and disable the saved card for this rental. Notify the renter promptly.
6. Assumption of risk and limited release
READ CAREFULLY: THIS SECTION AFFECTS YOUR RIGHT TO RECOVER DAMAGES.
Towing, loading, unloading and handling a trailer involve risks including collision, trailer separation, shifting loads, equipment damage, bodily injury and death. I acknowledge these risks and agree to follow the trailer's instructions and safe-towing requirements.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, I release We Found Adventure, LLC and its members, employees and agents from my claims for bodily injury, death or property damage arising from my pickup, loading, towing, use or return of this rental trailer, including claims caused by their ordinary negligence in providing the trailer or rental services.
This release is limited to ordinary negligence and excludes conduct greater than ordinary negligence.
If any provision of this agreement is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the extent permitted by law.
Separate acknowledgment: “I have read the assumption-of-risk and limited-release section, including its express reference to ordinary negligence, and understand that it limits my legal rights.”
7. Electronic agreement
Before payment, the renter can read and download the final agreement including the booking summary. Acceptance requires an unchecked consent box and the renter's typed full name; the confirmation includes a copy of the signed agreement.
Consent text: “I have read this rental agreement, agree to its terms, consent to transact electronically, and intend my typed name below to be my electronic signature.”
