7 Best Boundary Waters Entry Points for Trips with Babies and Toddlers

Here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, there are plenty of lakes and rivers to go canoe camping. Why do we drive the extra distance to enter the BWCA? For our family, it’s the special sense of place we have while we are in the wilderness. It’s a feeling we haven’t experienced anywhere else in Minnesota. It’s important that our children grow up learning and discovering in the wilderness so we put in the extra work and make our pilgrimage to the Boundary Waters as many times we can each summer. Why Do We Live in Minnesota?

In 2012 we moved to Seattle, WA when Bobby was offered a job at Amazon. It was an offer we couldn’t refuse and we packed up ourselves and our Golden Retriever, Latigo, and drove the 1,600 miles to the Pacific Northwest. At the time we were childless and relatively care-free. Big Woods State Park – Hidden Falls

On October 25th we welcomed our daughter, Rowan Margaret, into our family. We could not have been more excited to have her join our family. Unfortunately, my postpartum recovery took much longer then anticipated. Physically I was fine within a couple of weeks, mentally was a whole other issue. I was struggling in every respect. I was convinced that it was simply my hormones trying to balance out after having given birth. Bobby was convinced something else was going on, and held my hand while taking me to see my midwife and discuss the possibility of Postpartum Depression and Anxiety.…
