Arrowhead Traverse – Training

With only 65 days left until our departure for our big Arrowhead Traverse journey we are in all out prep mode. From gear planning, to logistical figuring, to preparing our bodies both mentally and physically for all that we are sure to deal with while on this expedition. We know that being in peak physical shape, having a strong and solid relationship, and being properly schooled in certain areas are all going to be vital to the success of this long trek. Arrowhead Traverse – Gearing Up

This summer we are planning a huge trip in Northern Minnesota throughout August that will have three parts to it. A biking portion, a canoe portion, and a backpacking portion. It was an offer we couldn’t refuse and we packed up ourselves and our Golden Retriever, Latigo, and drove the 1,600 miles to the Pacific Northwest. At the time we were childless and relatively care-free. While living in Washington we completely immersed ourselves into the outdoor recreation scene that flourishes so vibrantly in the Pacific Northwest. With a plethora of ecosystems, a variety of recreational opportunities, and an ever-growing group of remarkable like-minded friends we adored living there. Our weeks were spent in the heart…

Hiking into the Light

Every day tragedy strikes all around our planet. Often times, we are not personally affected by tragedy. But, it happens too often that we, or somebody we know, is affected. Loss of a loved one, a friend, a confidant. Loss of trust. Loss of faith. Every day we deal with a myriad of issues and concerns and fears. Every day we do our best to provide our children and those around us with happiness, light, and love. But, sometimes the darkness creeps in on us and takes over our lives. It consumes us. Sometimes the losses, the tragedies, the anguish,…
